ASSASSINS

On April 4th, 1968... Thursday... Martin Luther King, Jr. is staying at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. He is there to support a protest movement by black sanitation workers who are being paid less and forced to work in worse weather conditions than their fellow white workers. At about 6pm, he steps out onto his balcony to get some air. When he does, a 30-06 bullets rips through his right cheek, breaks his jaw and shatters several vertabrae in his neck. He dies almost immediately.

Two months later, escaped convict James Earl Ray, is captured at Heathrow Airport in London.

March 10, 1969, Ray confesses to the assassination of MLK. He is sentenced to 99 years.

There are some unanswered questions about Ray and his crime. Who led the police on a wild goose chase after the assassination via police radio, allowing Ray to escape from Memphis? Who helped Ray escape from prison in the first place? How did he pull this off without any training or experience? Why does the family of MLK believe Ray is innocent? In an attempt to examine these quandries, I will look at everything from the beginning.
